The Story

Once again, a mix of "live" and studio recordings make up this release. The "live" portions were recorded at Jerry Cardin's "fancy" pad in Louisville's Highlands neighborhood before an audience of 10 drunk girls. Liquor was provided by the band and Mr. Cardin. The girls, being from Kentucky, react to every song by hollering "yeehaw" and "woohoo." (Inexplicably, none of them ever yells "Go Cats" at any point.) The studio tracks (Larger Than, Helping Hands, Melissa and Young Girls II) were produced by John Schroeder at Audiovisions in Louisville. This is the band's best recording to this point, and a good example of the elements that the band embodied: sweet vocal pop, presented with a wink and a smile. It is the recording that eventually ended up in the hands of Zoo Entertainment Executive Lee Hammond...starting the process that eventually led to LJ signing to the label 1 1/2 year later. Note: After LJ moved to Los Angeles, Mr. Cardin released a Bootleg Live At Jerry's, that contained different mixes and a few outtakes from the recording session. The band was excited about being bootlegged for the first time and a couple of the members bought copies for themselves. A few of the guys in the band think the bootleg is better than the official release. The others are no longer on speaking terms with Mr. Cardin.
