Beaux Arts Ball 2
University of Kentucky School of Architecture
Audio CD
April 23, 1993
Love Jones played the UK Beaux Arts Party again! This disc was the event's "party favor," a recording of a live show at L.A.'s Largo pub. It is primarily a comedy album, with some interesting musical choices thrown in. The humor definitely fell into the "blue" category, which couldn't have pleased the other band on the CD, the Colonel's Choice Dixieland Band, a traditional dixieland band comprised of a bunch of dignified older gentlemen. A number of "cover" songs appear here, most of which were turned into offensive scatalogical routines. The one exception is a slammin' rendition of "Love Me Tonight" by Tom Jones. The "Black Flag/Journey Medley" and especially the "Jesus Christ Superstar" tribute are in extremely poor taste, and would displease Henry Rollins, Steve Perry and Sir Andrew Lloyd Weber in one fell swoop. Points for efficiency!
